Many of the coffee shops and kiosks in churches are small and need to have items that are easy to manage, maintain and store. While things like cinnamon rolls, soups and other par-baked items are difficult to handle because they
may require baking, proofing or cooking the items below will be easily handled by your team.
1. Muffins
Muffins and coffee shops go hand in hand. I recommend a 4oz. muffin and staying with basic flavors like Blueberry, Chocolate Chip and Banana Nut to start with and expanding your offerings based on demand and availability. If you are using a food distributor like Sysco or US Foods you can order from them. You can also find a very good pack of assorted muffins from Sams. For an added bonus, if you have a microwave heat the muffins for about 15 seconds and serve.
2. Bottled Juices
Whether on Saturday evenings or Sunday mornings juices can be a consistent source of income as this is an item that serves both adults and children. I recommend something like Tropicana’s 10 oz. juices available from Sams. They come in an assortment of flavors such as Apple, Orange, Strawberry-Kiwi and others. If you order from a food distributor compare prices. I have found that these items are cheaper from Sams.
3. Mints
People are always looking for a peppermint or something to pop in their mouth to help with bad breath, a sore throat or to appease an unhappy child. Mints are low cost high return items that will move throughout the year. I recommend that you stick with mints and avoid gum unless you are prepared to remove it from your carpets, pews and chairs. You can find mints like Testamints from STL-Distribution or you can again visit your local Sams for a variety of options in mints.
